Have some boats I’ve seen in the last few weeks.

50-odd year old hydroplane, 427 BBC

Twin Procharged 509CI Big Blocks, not sure the manufacturer. Didn’t get a chance to talk to the owner myself, I just overheard bits and pieces while I was checking it out. Apparently it’ll hit over 90mph.

He’s wading actually, just getting it on the trailer. The way the prop is set up he probably doesn’t want to get on the trailer under power.

Probably the one. I did google 509 bb marine engine and most of the results were BBC’s, but you never know...

Anyway, 640hp, and that’s naturally aspirated? The procharged one’s this guy is running must be putting out at least 1000hp each. Yes plz

Ha, I was more often in the company of three other guys as well. And I had better results that way as well. I think I just like rowing solo better though. Or with only one other dude, that’s fun as well.

I rowed double a few times, it was a lot more fun. I could row either side, so I wound up in the 8 quite a bit and hated it. 4 or less. The speed of the 8 is awesome, but I loved the 4.

I have a license, and I like boats, but I don’t really boat much. It’s been a couple years. All rentals.

I don’t really do boat spotting either, but if I’m by a dock and I see (or hear) something I like I’ll go check it out.

Actually, I’m more of a sculler than a rower. So no problem about switching sides! And yeah I agree the speed of an 8 is awesome, but getting everyone to work together and be actually efficient can be pretty hard if you don’t get all the 9 blokes training regularly together.

4x is where I got my best results, but I just love 1x and 2x better.

I got to jetsky for the first time this weekend, that was pretty stinking fun. It's feels pretty weird when you turn without throttle and just, don't turn at all. I was honestly kind of scared of it at first, but after about 20 minutes I was turning at full throttle and having a blast.
